What it is
A denture is judged on three things: whether you can eat with it, whether it stays where you put it, and whether it looks like your own teeth. All three are set at the planning stage, not the fitting.
We record the way your jaw actually moves, the position of your lip at rest and in a smile, and the shade and shape of teeth that suit your face rather than the standard tray. A denture set up to those records is what makes the difference between one that gets worn and one that lives in a drawer.
Lower dentures in particular struggle for retention, because there is far less ridge to hold onto. Two implants can transform one into something that stays put while you eat — a far smaller undertaking than replacing every tooth with an implant, and for many people the single change that matters most.

Common questions
Good To Know
- Will people be able to tell?
- Not if the set-up is right. Teeth that are slightly irregular and shaded to your age read as natural; a perfect white arch is what gives a denture away.
- How long until I can eat normally?
- Expect a few weeks of adjustment, starting with softer food. A lower denture stabilised with implants shortens that considerably.
- Do dentures need adjusting over time?
- Yes — the ridge underneath continues to change shape, so a reline every few years is normal and keeps the fit comfortable.
