Children's Dentistry
How a child feels about their first few appointments tends to follow them for forty years.

What this covers
That makes the early visits worth getting right, even when there is nothing clinically wrong at all. Familiarity is doing most of the work.
Early appointments are deliberately uneventful. We count teeth, show them the mirror and the little water squirter, and let them sit in the chair with a parent beside them. Nothing is attempted that has not been explained first, and nothing is done to a child who has said no.
Clinically, most of the work is prevention: fluoride varnish, sealants on the biting surfaces of new adult molars, and an honest conversation about diet. We also watch how the jaws and adult teeth are developing, because spotting a crowding problem at nine is far easier than correcting it at fifteen.
